Starting
from the true belief that the first icon was the image of Jesus
Christ (the Saviour) miraculously printed on the mandillion of
Saint Veronica, one could say that the icon is not simply a piece
of art, but first of all a sacred object.
Therefore, the icons painted
in the Saint Veronica Workshop are painted to this religious purpose
and they are also sanctified.
Many of them are copies
or interpretations of famous icons, while several others are unique
works of art created in our workshop.
In the religious icons
series entitled "From the
flavour of the past for the joy of the present"
the priest uses hardwood 75 years old of age.
The colours used are natural
pigments with different pastel colour tones that transport us
back to the times of the greatest iconographers: Andrew Rubliov,
Theophan the Cretan, Pansellinos etc.
"The
Flower of the Gifts" is the icons series addressed
to those wanting to offer a spiritual gift to those dearest to
them.
The icons in this series are of small dimensions
(14.5 x 21 cm or 21 x 29.5 cm) and have as iconographic theme,
besides the two most important Christian celebrations: the Resurrection
of Christ and the Nativity, other themes such as Jesus Christ
Pantocrator, Virgin Mary with Child Jesus etc. Icons representing
various saints belonging to both the Orthodox and Catholic calendar,
of whom we mention Saints George, Demetrius, Andrew, Nicholas,
Parascheve etc., are also included in this series; these are addressed
to those wanting to offer them as gifts for somebody’s name
day.
Religious icons depicting saints other
than those listed above must be ordered at least 2 months in advance.
"The
Iconostasis" is the name of the third series
of icons which are included in the rood screen of an Orthodox
Church. This series of icons is meant for churches which need
an iconostasis.
Other types and models of icons can be
painted on request. Please, contact us.
The religious Icons are usually painted on linden tree wood.
Each icon will be accompanied by an authenticated
signature specimen of the painter and by legal documents proving
the origin and the authenticity of the work.
